Frederick William Burnett

Frederick William "Fred" Burnett, 88, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Plaza West.

He was born June 15, 1922 in Grand Island, NE. The family moved to St. Joseph, MO where he went to grade school and high school. After serving in the Air Force he graduated from West Virginia University. His job with Hillyard Chemical moved him to Topeka, KS and he retired from there in 1979.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Arab Shrine Temple. Fred enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Lois, son, Bill and Jeanine, daughters, Debbie and John Nauman, Becky and Roy Lindhart, granddaughter, Ashley Burnett, step-son, David Scott, step-daughter, Connee Scott and step-grandson, Travis Salsbury. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Louis Burnett.

Memorial ceremonies will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Crestview United Methodist Church, 2245 SW Eveningside Drive, Topeka, KS. Private inurnment will be at a later date in St. Joseph, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Crestview United Methodist Church or to Shriner's Children Hospital, 1305 S. Kansas Ave, Topeka, KS 66612 or to Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St., Suite 100, Topeka, KS 66614. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
