Frederick N. Winterscheid, 78, Topeka, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007 at a local care center.
Fred was born July 24, 1928 in Gridley. He grew up in rural Yates Center.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was employed as an Engineer for Southwestern Bell, retiring in 1992 after
40 years of service.
Fred married Mildred Haas on October 7th, 1951. She died on February 13, 1999.
Survivors include a son; Christopher Winterscheid; 3 grandchildren, Douglas
Winterscheid, Matthew Winterscheid, Amberle Winterscheid; 1 great
granddaughter, Dakota Winterscheid, all of Des Moines, IA; and two brothers,
Loren Winterscheid, Washington, and Edward Winterscheid, Oklahoma.
Fred was a 33rd degree mason and served on the Director's Staff of the Arab Temple Shrine during his lifetime.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at
Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Fred will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
