Freda L. Worsley, 81, of Carbondale, died June 18, 2005 at her sons home in Tecumseh.
She was born March 22, 1924 in Topeka, the eldest daughter of Roy Miles and Emma Marie Clark Peavler.
Freda graduated from Highland Park High School in 1943. She worked for thirty years at Pelletier's Dept. Store and for seventeen years for B&B Vending (Canteen) before retiring in July, 1989. She moved to Carbondale in 1966 and was a life member of Wiliam E. Tyree V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She married Percy R. (Bud) Worsley on May 28, 1945 in Lawrence. He preceded her in death in February, 1986. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter in November, 1949.
She is survived by two sons; James Worsley and his wife Sally of Tecumseh, and Danny Worsley of Carbondale; a stepdaughter. Charlene Miller of Topeka; four sisters; Wilma May, Violet Wallace and Fonda Peavler of Carbondale and Elvira Abrams of Silver Lake; three grandchildren and four step grandchildren.
Mrs. Worsley will lie in state after 2:00 pm., Tuesday, June 21 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 7-8:30 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 22 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Carbondale Cemetery.
