Mr. Fred H. Ward, 94, of Topeka passed away Saturday April 13, 2002 in a local care center. He was born in Silver Lake, KS on May 27, 1907 to Charles and Wealtha Bradbury Ward.
Mr. Ward graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1925. He worked for Long-Bell Lumber Company in Topeka. He co-owned a grocery store in Silver Lake with his brother Frank, until 1941, when he joined the U. S. Navy. Mr. Ward served during WWII on the USS Vicksburg and received his honorable discharge in 1945. Mr. Ward then bought and operated a grocery store at 10th & Orleans. Later he moved to Hardy, Arkansas and worked for a lumber company for about 10 years, before moving back to Topeka.
On January 27, 1936 in Oskaloosa, KS he was married to Lola LaVere McConnell
she passed on September 30, 1994. Other survivors include Nieces & Nephews.
Memorial services will be Friday, April 19, 2002, at 2:00pm in Grace Epsicopal Cathedral. Inurnment will be in the Chapel of the Resurrection Columbarium.
