Fred Benson McConnell, III, 68, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016.
He was born November 8, 1947 in Topeka, the son of Fred Benson and Mary Bridget (Kennedy) McConnell. He was 1965 graduate of Hayden High School.
Fred was employed by Torgeson Electric for 7 years and retired from TARC after 27 years on May 1, 2016.
Fred married Cheryl Lynn "Sherry" Bean on November 22, 1968 in Topeka. She survives of the home. Other survivors include four children, Tammy (Robert) Scott, Kristin Brown, Gwen (Buddy) Cordero and Fred B. "Freddy" McConnell, IV, all of Topeka; 12 grandchildren, Tanner Scott, Tatum Scott, Caitlin Cordero, Shae Brown, Hayden Cordero, Taylor Brown, Conner Scott, Hunter Brown, Freddy McConnell, V, Maura Mack, Madelyn McConnell and Maylee Mack; a sister, Diane Workman, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kevin McConnell.
Fred will lie in state after 3 pm, Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. A graveside service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Auburn Cemetery, Auburn, KS.
