Fred A. Schultz, 91, of Topeka, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at a local hospital.
He was born February 10, 1925 in Topeka, the son of Fred and Mary Schultz.
Fred attended Topeka High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the aircraft carrier, the USS Saginaw Bay in the Philippines during World War II. After the war, he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad as a machinist for 43 years.
He married Dorothy Bergman on February 20, 1947 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2011.
Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved carpentry work. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching the KC Royals and KU basketball with his family.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Schultz of Topeka; a son, Mike (Dorothy) Schultz, North Carolina; granddaughters Adrienne DiMenna, Patti Tintle, Amy Knudson and Jennifer Faulhaber; grandson Tim Faulhaber and 8 great grandchildren.
In keeping with Fred's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW. 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606. Arrangements have been entrusted to Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW. 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66606.
