Franz H. Sigel, 94, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at the Topeka V.A. hospital.
Mr. Sigel was born June 13, 1912 in New York City the son of Franz and Ethel Sigel. He was the great grandson of General Franz Sigel who fought in the Civil War during the Battle of Pea Ridge.
Franz served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of the Seventh Regiment in New York City.
He was an aeronautical engineer working as a senior designer for Boeing Aircraft in California until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine, Topeka; his step children, Jerry Bendickson, Ottosen, IA; Diana Adams, Topeka; Jack Bendickson, Garden City, IA; Mike Bendickson, Topeka; his nephew, Robert Dilworth and his wife Faith, McLean, VA. He was preceded in death by his sister Lee Dilworth Dibble.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the All Faiths Chapel at the V.A. Hospital. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
