Frankie Josephine Johnston Barnett passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008. She was born December 11, 1918 in Eskridge, Kansas to Flora and Alva Johnston. Frankie was married to Joe Barnett for 53 years and to Barney Gauvin for 1 year.
She graduated from a Topeka Area Secretarial School, worked for Wolffe Jewlery and then, for many years, with Dr. Gurss at the Kansas Animal Health Department. Frankie was a long time, active member of Central Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by nephew Richard Foster and wife Mary of Burleson, Texas; Niece Joy Clements and husband Dale, of Holton, Kansas; Niece Nancy Hughes of Phoenix, Arizona; and Special Friend Don Lira of Topeka as well as many friends and relatives.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Central Presbyterian Church. She will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 7, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Central Presbyterian Church or Midland Hospice.
