Frank "Steve" Roche, 65 of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016.
He was born January 1, 1951, in Atchison County, Kansas, the son of Dwain and Rose (Wilderson) Roche. He was a 1969 graduate of Manhattan High School. He attended Kansas State University. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
Steve was employed by Jeffrey Energy Center/Westar Energy, retiring in October 1, 2015.
Mr. Roche was a member IBEW Local Union 226, Siloam Lodge No 225 AF&AM, Arab Shrine, Escorts Unit, American Legion Post No 400 and Legion Riders in Topeka. He is also a life member of the VFW in St. Mary's, KS.
Steve married Susan Lynn Cunninham on December 23, 1972 in New Strawn, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three children, Tara (Kelly) Thompson, Hasting, NE, Brady (Mary) Roche, St. Mary's, KS and Derek (Colleen) Roche, Delia, KS; grandchildren, Jayna (Sergio) Thompson, Mitchell Roche, David (Nichole) Brumbaugh, Jake and Nicole Seidl, Dakota Cox, DeeAnna Glotzbach, Lainey Weddle, Kara Jacobs, Marina Myers and Justin and Kyle Schiffbauer; several great-grandchildren; many cousins; and his great dane, Apollo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Greg and Michael Roche.
Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, traveling, antique stores, flea markets, collecting guns, coins, KC Chiefs Memorabilia, and possessed the gift to negotiate a great deal.
Honoring his request, Steve was cremated. A family gathering will be from 2-6 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Arab Shrine, 1305 S Kansas Ave, Topeka. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka is assisting the family.
