Frank E. Godding, Jr.

Frank E. Godding, Jr., 82, of Topeka passed away Thursday, June 3, 2004 in a local hospital. He was born November 28, 1921 in Irving, KS the son of Frank and Leota House Godding.

Frank graduated from Wichita East High School in 1939 and from the University of Kansas in 1943 with a B.S. in Architecture. He served in WWII as a Lt. jg in the United States Navy.

Having lived in Topeka since 1951, Frank was entrenched in the community and active in many organizations. His passion was Lions Club International; he had served as both the past President and Secretary of Topeka Lions Club, past President of Topeka Lions Foundation and past District Governor. He belonged to Golden Rule Lodge #90 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Arab Temple. Frank was also the past President of Sail-A-Way Estate Homes Association and Pomona Lake Association. As a proud graduate of the University of Kansas, he was a member of the KU Kappa Sigma Alumni Association and Corporation Board.

Frank was a self-employed practicing architect for many years. During his long career he did a lot of work with USD 501. He was a member of the Topeka Stamp Club and was very active with the Citizens Review Board.

Survivors include his brother George Godding and wife Bette of Arlington, VA; his sister Lorraine Bodin of Lawrence, four nieces and three nephews, 12 grand nieces and nephews and one great grand nephew. Frank was loved dearly by his entire family and will be missed.

Mr. Godding will lie in state on Monday, June 7, 2004 beginning at noon at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town. His funeral will be held on Tuesday June 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, KS.
