Francisco Caballero, 72, of Topeka, went home with Jesus, Thursday, March 18, 2021.
He was born February 17, 1949, in Meoqui, Chihuahua, MX, the son of Antonio and Alejandra (Rivas) Caballero.
After immigrating to the United States, Francisco was first employed with the BRB Contractors group in Topeka. Francisco was then employed by the City of Topeka Water Department for 26 years, retiring in December 2014.
Francisco (known to many as "Cisco" or "Quico") fervently loved God. He was steadfast in his faith and committed his life to glorifying God. He wanted everyone to know Jesus too.
He was dedicated to his church, Good News Church of Topeka, for more than 25 years and served on the prayer team.
Francisco loved his family immensely and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was genuine, kind hearted and generous, and was always serving and taking care of others.
He was known by his family for making the best pancakes from scratch. He loved eating sweet snacks, especially cookies, and his favorite was oatmeal raisin cookies. He enjoyed gardening and was known for growing tomatoes and the hottest jalapeños.
He loved to work, both for practical reasons and to bless others. He was always multitasking a variety of projects. When he wasn't working on something or engaging someone in a good conversation, he was an avid reader.
Francisco married Janet L. Meininger on June 17, 2000 at Good News Church in Topeka, KS. Survivors include his wife, Janet L. Caballero; daughters, Alejandra Caballero, Veronica (Jose Correa) Caballero, Marisela (Isidro Trujillo) Caballero, Mariana (Jeremiah) Sutton, Cristina (Erik) Nava and Carly Caballero; grandchildren, Marco Ortiz, Mateo Castillo, Fabian Correa, Vanessa Galvan, Itzel Trujillo, Ahtziri Trujillo, Juliana Caballero, Isaias Nava and Lily Nava; great-grandchildren, Elaina, Natalia, Francisco, Mya; and brother, Manuel Caballero. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
A Funeral Ceremony will be 3:00 pm., Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Good News Church, 3819 SW Burlingame Rd, Topeka, Kansas. The family will greet family and friends one hour prior to the service. The family respectfully requests that face masks be worn. A private graveside service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
