Francis E. Young, 84, of Topeka, passed away on March 9, 2017.
Francis Elaine Young was born on January 15, 1933 to Alfonso Brisco and Mildred Hudspeth.
She attended school in Topeka. Following her education she went on to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Colmery O'neil VA Hospital in Topeka. She was dedicated to working with veterans, and helping however she was able to. She also served as a Union Steward President with the VA.
Francis loved playing cards, dominos, and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, and a devoted grandmother, and great-grandmother. Francis was an avid wrestling fan, and enjoyed watching and attending wrestling events.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Glenn) Blue, of Topeka; a grandson, Steven (Karol) Blue, of Topeka; a granddaughter, Stacy (Ronnie, Sr.) Cushinberry; great-children, Ronnie Cushinberry, Jr., Ashrae'Ana Cushinberry, Makhia Blue, De'Onzay Blue, Heziki Sexton, Zachari Sexton; sisters, Wanda Sanders, Saundra Jefferson; a brother, Carl Hudspeth; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Maurine Robinson and Gail Hudspeth; as well as a brother, Lloyd Brisco.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Asbury-Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, 1196 SW Buchanan, Topeka. The family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church.
Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
