Francis Edward Larsen, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on June 1, 1924 in Topeka, the son of Edward D. and Rose Leonard Larsen. He graduated from Topeka High School. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railway for many years before retiring on June 1, 1984. Ed married Opal D. Rumbaugh on September 22, 1948 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Marta J. Edmonds of Great Bend, Karen L. Larsen of Ozawkie and one granddaughter, Katherine A. Edmonds of Topeka. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery where military honors will be presented by a burial detail from Fort Riley, KS. Burial will follow. Ed will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 N.W. Rochester Rd., Topeka, KS 66617.
