Mr. Francis Dale Stanley, 83, a resident of University Park, Manhattan, KS, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2003 in a Topeka hospital.. He was born on November 09, 1919, in a farm house south of Minneapolis, KS, the son of Archie and Josephine Gary Stanley.
Mr. Stanley was a 1937 graduate of Clay Center High School. He also graduated from Wichita State University and Fort Hays State University.
He was a WWII, Coast Guard veteran, having served on the USS Cambridge.
Mr. Stanley had over 30 years as Superintendent in public education in the following communities; Circleville, Downs, Oberlin, Solomon and Rose Hill, Kansas. He was a member of Randolph United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge of Circleville, O.E.S. and Isis Shrine in Salina. He was also a member Kansas Tennessee Walking Horse Association, Phi Delta Kappa and many other social and fraternal organizations.
On April 8, 1944 he married Mary Marie Olson, she survives. Other survivors include;
Twin sons- Denis of Lake Perry and Dale of Manhattan
Son- Doug of Augusta
Daughter- IlaRose Bosworth of Topeka
Sister - Ruth Porter of San Jose, CA
Sisters-in-Law- Mary Brandel of Renton, WA
Hazel Stellmacher of Lawrence, KS

Mr. Stanley will lie in state on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 in Penwell-Gabel Mid Town beginning at Noon, the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 9:00 am, Penwell-Gabel Mid Town. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm in Dwight Cemetery, Dwight, KS.
