Francis Brown
Mr. Francis V. Brown, 70, of Topeka passed away Friday, April 23, 2004 at Midland Hospice. He was born on Sept. 1, 1933 in Burlington, KS the son of Merle and Marie Thompson Brown.
Francis graduated from Burlington High School in 1952; he then enlisted into the Army National Guard. He served his country for over 20 years and was activated during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His rank at retirement was Master Sgt.
For over forty years Francis worked in industrial sales, his last position was as Sales Manager for Neenan Comp., for about 20 years.
On June 13, 1954, in Burlington he married Jean M. Christy; she survives and lives in Topeka. Francis is also survived by his son Philip R. Brown of Ottawa and his daughter Kristie A. Brown Runyan of Topeka, his brother Kenneth Brown of Santa Maria, CA, 5 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 25, 2004 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., in Penwell-Gabel Mid Town; Mr. Brown will lie in state until 9:00 p.m. Graveside services with full military honors will be Monday, April 26, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
