Francine Martha (Reed) Pomerantz, 76, of Topeka, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 9, 2020. She was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in February.
Francine was born January 7, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Millard and Stephanie (Krzeminski) Reed. She received her Bachelor's degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
She treasured her family. In her kids' younger years, she was actively involved with everything they did, including serving as the PTA president.
She loved to swim, play mahjong and travel. She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and daughter in Germany, her daughter in the Netherlands and her daughter in Southern California frequently.
Francine volunteered at Menninger's Museum and was involved with the Menninger's Winter Women. She was active with the Woman's Club of Topeka. She worked for RTI International helping the government collect data on drug use and health.
Francine is survived by her husband of 51 years, Sanford Pomerantz, MD, whom she married on Halloween 1969 in Southfield, MI. She also leaves behind her daughters, Jennifer (Stephen) Pomerantz Elkin, Joanna (Andreas) Siegel, and Katie (Bart) Poltz; siblings, Alan (Elsa) Reed, Susan Saari, Linda (Larry) Vassallo, and Cynthia (Tom) Matelic and grandchildren, Thorsten and Sven Siegel.

A private green burial will be held at Heart Land Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Francine Pomerantz Memorial Fund at Washburn University.
