Frances Walbourn

Frances L. Walbourn, 91, of Topeka, passed away, Wednesday, January 19, 2011.
She was born September 22, 1919 in Galena, KS to Virgil and Frances Fisher. She graduated co-valedictorian from Galena High School in 1937. She then graduated from Joplin Business College where she later taught. She was a longtime employee of USD 490, El Dorado, Kansas.
Frances married Edwin J. Walbourn, Jr. on January 4, 1944 in Tampa, FL. He preceded her in death October 21, 1998.
She is survived by her children, Virginia Himes, Casper, WY; E. J. (Jan) Walbourn, III, Florence, KY; her grandchildren, Jennifer Tauer, Jacob Walbourn and Joe Walbourn; and two great grandchildren, McKenna and Dawson Tauer. She was also preceded in death by her brother John Marshall Fisher and her sister Dorothy Ann Fisher.
She was a devoted member of Lowman United Methodist Church. She was active in United Methodist Women especially enjoying her church Circle activities.

Frances will lie in state after 12:00 noon Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 2:00pm until 4:00 p.m. that afternoon. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday January 24, 2011 at Lowman United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Lowman United Methodist Church, 4000 SW Drury Lane, Topeka, KS 66604.
