Frances M. Thomas, 86, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 30, 2004.



She was born December 22, 1917 at Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of August F.and Emerett Mary Brown Osburg.

She was married to Howard D. Thomas April 23, 1939 in Kinsley. He preceded her in death in April 11, 1979. She was also preceded by her daughter Jan D. Sims June 7, 2004. Survivors include:

her grandson, Blake D. Sims and his wife, Melanie, of Atlanta, GA

a sister, Loisanne Barnes Hutchinson, KS

her son in law, Gary D. Sims of Berryton, KS



Mrs. Thomas was an active member of the Brewster Place Retirement Community, working in the arts and crafts area as well as the annual bazaar. She was a long-time volunteer with the American Lung Association and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Topeka Chapter 462. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and formerly of John Knox Presbyterian Church.



Mrs. Thomas will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. Monday August 2, 2004 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association, 4300 SW Drury Lane, Topeka, KS 66604.
