Frances Rowland
Frances M. Rowland, 91, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 30 at Ashford Place Assisted Living in Overland Park.
She was born November 20, 1914 in Topeka, the daughter of Howard A. and Stella Mae Johnson Oliphant.
She graduated from Topeka High School and attended Wasburn University. She was a member and past president of the Topeka Druggist Auxiliary. She was a member of several bridge clubs and organ clubs, and was a past member of Lowman United Methodist Church.
She married John S. "Jack" Rowland on September 24, 1938 in Topeka. Mr. Rowland preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Sidney Miller and her husband Bill of Overland Park; two grandsons, Brian and Brent Miller of Prairie Village and one brother, Howard Oliphant of San Mateo, CA.
Mrs. Rowland will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Friday, September 1 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. The casket will remain closed. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 2 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Community Hospice, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102.
