Frances R. "Fran" Anderson, 94, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
She was born February 15, 1921 in Topeka, Kansas, and lived in Topeka until high school. At that time she moved with her parents, Dr. Frank Garfield and Blanche Olive (Fees) Richard to Partridge, Kansas. She graduated from Partridge High School and continued her education at Emporia State University.
Her professional career of 25 years was spent with firms in Colorado and Kansas. Most of her administrative duties were in the Real Estate / Construction and Automotive fields.
Fran married William E. McGaffin on December 27, 1942 in Partridge, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1969. She married Howard R. Anderson on October 17, 1986 in Topeka. He survives her of the home. Other survivors include four children, Lyle S. Anderson, and his wife, Rose, Palmer, AK, Ellen A. Burns, Aurora, CO, Miriam A. Byrns, Elwood, NE and Carol A. Pepper, and her husband, James, Wilmington, DE; 6 grandchildren, Caitlin Burns, Brendan Burns, Christopher Burns, Nicholas Byrns, Graham Pepper, Hudson Pepper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Garfield Richard; three sisters, Olive Ina Seif, Virginia Senti, and Elizabeth Stanley; and son-in-law, Brian Burns.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday April 25, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS 66603. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside inurnment service will be at later date at the Partridge Community Cemetery, Partridge, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076; www.dav.org. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
