Frances LeMyra (Schiesser) McKown passed away on January 1, 2013 at the age of 99.
Frances was born at home near Keene, Kansas on October 16, 1913, the daughter of Samuel Louis Schiesser and Mary Mae (Blankenship) Schiesser. She was preceded in death by her parents, eleven brothers, two sisters, and her daughter Elizabeth Shipp.
Frances spent most of her life in Topeka, and retired from the Kansas Division of Motor Vehicle. In 2004 she moved to Lawrence, Kansas to be closer to family. Frances traveled extensively throughout the United States and much of the world. Frances was a dedicated member of Central Presbyterian Church where she served as church financial secretary and the worship service nursery attendant for more years than anyone can remember.
Frances is survived by two sons, Thomas McKown of Los Alamos, New Mexico, William McKown of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and daughter Mary Curry of Atwater, California, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Frances to Central Presbyterian Church.
