Frances Lorraine Noble, 88, died on the 31st of July, 2012, at the Midland Hospice House. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She was born on October 30, 1923, in Topeka, the daughter of Laurence and Hulda Johnson and attended Sumner Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Topeka High School in January 1942.
She worked for the 832nd Supply Depot, Forbes Air Force Base, and the Veterans Administration Hospital as a telephone operator, teletype operator, and secretary. She retired after 35 years of federal service. Later she worked for Tecumseh United Methodist Church for eight years.
Mrs. Noble was a member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church where she sang in the Chancel Choir and Ladies Trio for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Golden Age, Santa Fe Singers, New Beginnings Choir, and the Goodyear Leisure Club.
She was married to Morris E. Noble, June 15, 1947. They shared 54 years together before he preceded her in death on November 16, 2001.
Frances was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Schmidt and Ruth Coffindaffer, and two brothers, Eugene and Harold Johnson.
Survivors include three sisters, Betty Davis of Lawrence, Kansas, Mary Jane Fleenor of Topeka, Kansas, and Harriet Horvath of Odenton, Maryland; a daughter, Shirley Singer, and her husband, Richard Singer, of Topeka, Kansas; a son, David Noble, and his wife, Karlene, of Topeka, Kansas; and three grandchildren – Heather, of Austin, Texas, Matt Noble, of Overland Park, Kansas, and Jeff Singer, as well as wife Nicole, of Lenexa, Kansas.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Noble will lie in state from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
