Frances Christine High, 85, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2006.
Frances was born October 22, 1921 in Topeka, the daughter of Oscar and Manie (Greenquist) Johnson. She was the 8th of nine children.
She married Morton "Todd" High on December 7, 1941. They lived in Tecumseh for 36 years before moving to Topeka.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #1 where she served in many offices including past president, the Eight and Forty, an honorary society of the American Legion Auxiliary, and V.F.W. Post 1640. She belonged to the Social Service Club of Tecumseh, joining in 1956, where she served in all offices. She was a member of Tecumseh United Methodist Church.
She worked 18 years for the Kansas House of Representatives during the Legislature.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Smith and husband, Steve, Silsbee, TX; son, Robert High, Rancho Mirage, CA; five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be at Topeka Cemetery. Frances will lie in state at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
