Frances A. White, 91, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at McCrite Plaza. She was born March 23, 1919 in Scranton, KS, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Lucas) Barraclough. After graduating from Highland Park High School, she was employed at the Santa Fe offices as a comptometer operator. She also taught at Clark's Business College. She later was employed as a receptionist & secretary at the Emerson & Franske Advertising Agency, Inc. She was married to Eugene Gunnerson in 1939 and had one daughter.
Later, she was married to Dean L. White in 1959. She was a member of First Congregational Church. Also, a member of Artist's Associated of Topeka, the Topeka Art Guild, Western Hills Golf Club and several bridge groups. She especially enjoyed painting in watercolor.
Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Marilyn Huncker and husband Richard, Topeka; a sister, Arlene Clark, Fort Worth, TX; a stepson, Jim White, Topeka; two step-daughters, Vickie Mills and husband Don, Colorado Springs, CO; and Susan Buchanan and husband David, Los Altos Hills, CA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Mount Hope Mausoleum, 4700 SW 17th Ave., Topeka 66604. Framces will lie in state from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka 66604.
