Floyd Moran

Floyd W. Moran, 85, of Auburn, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2006 at McCrite Plaza Retirement Community.

He was born April 18, 1921 near Dover, the son of Winnie and Elsie Barrett Moran.

Floyd graduated from Auburn High School and served in the Navy for two years during World War II. He traveled for International Harvester before returning to the family farm, spending the next thirty years as a dairyman. He served on the boards of the MidAmerica Dairy Association, the Auburn Township and Kaw Valley Electric, and was a member of the Masonic lodge in Dover for many years. Floyd was an active member of Auburn United Methodist Church.

He married Bethine Noble on June 18, 1948 in Dover. She preceded him in death on August 23, 1998 after fifty years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Colleen Moran, an infant, and Vicky Bayless on February 5, 2006 and one sister, Marguerite Miller.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Brooke of Topeka; four grandchildren, April Lee, Justin Banks, Stephanie Brooke and Brandon Bayless, all of Topeka; three great grandsons and a sister, Eileen Moore of Boulder, CO.

Mr. Moran will lie in state after 11:00 am, Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm that afternoon. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, August 28 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Auburn Cemetery.
