Floyd Davis

Floyd L. Davis, Jr, 68, Topeka, passed away on March 11, 2008. He was born on March 25, 1939 in Topeka, the son of Floyd and Naomi (Price) Davis Sr. He was the brother of Jeanette (deceased), Almina Paletta (deceased), Montoy (Jack) Sims, Topeka, and Joyce Adam, NY. He married Carolyn Ewing on August 19, 1961. She survives. They had two daughters: DeNeisse (Dennis) Browning, Topeka; and Kim (Gary) Rhoades, Topeka. Floyd had four grandchildren: Dustin, Desiree, and Damon (Jennifer) Browning, and Dylan Rhoades. Floyd was looking forward to becoming a "young" Great-Grandpa in October. Floyd was also survived by his mother-in-law Margie, sister and brother-in-law, Donna and John Keller, many nieces and nephews, and lots of family members in Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Lester.

Floyd was employed by Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and in 1967 opened Floyd's Daylight Donut Shop. Floyd and Carolyn retired in 2004 after 37+ years of making the best donuts in Topeka. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 555, and a former member of the Topeka Homing Pigeon Association. He also enjoyed taking his grandkids to the dog races in Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 9am Saturday, March 15 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call on the family Friday evening from 7 - 9 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grace UMC, which he attended regularly.
