Flossie R. Kinder

Flossie R. Kinder, 74, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka after a short battle with cancer. She was born on April 9, 1934 in Rock, KS, the daughter of Raymond J. "Pete" and Marguerite Briles Kuntz. She graduated from Udall High School. She had resided in Topeka since 1964. Flossie was a homemaker and employed at Blue Cross / Blue Shield for seven years. She then went to work for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment until her retirement. She was an active member of the Kaw Valley Woodcarvers Association, the Red Hat Society and many bridge clubs. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church. Flossie married Robert E. Kinder on December 16, 1956 in Udall, KS. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Brenda Davis of Douglass, KS, Steven E. Kinder and his best friend/companion, Joyce Dutton of Concordia, KS, Robert R. Kinder and wife, Kelley of Lawrence, KS, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two brothers, Frank Kuntz and E.J. Kuntz both of Wichita, KS and one sister, Juanita Carr of Udall, KS. Flossie was preceded in death by a total of four sons, triplets, Jimmie, Johnnie and Jackie, and Samuel Dean. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Cremation will follow services and private inurnment will take place at a later date. Flossie will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
