Florence Lucille Smith, 86, of Topeka, Kansas died on November 14th 2013 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS. She is survived by her husband Russell J. Smith also of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Francis Peuker and twin-brother Laurence V. Peuker.
Florence was born on April 18, 1927 in Horton and graduated from Horton Kansas High School in 1945.
Florence moved to Topeka, Kansas and was employed by the Veterans Hospital where she worked in the women's psychiatric ward for over 30 years until she retired. It was at the Veterans Hospital where Florence met Russell and they were married on November 29th, 1954.
Florence was full of life and embraced it passionately. She loved the outdoors-fishing, hunting and gardening. Florence participated in league bowling and was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Topeka. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A graveside memorial service will be held in her honor at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Ave Topeka, KS 66606 on Wednesday, November 27th at 10:30 a.m. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, is assisting the family with arrangements.
