Florence Marshall Linton, 95, of Topeka, passed away, Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at a local retirement community.
She was born November 7, 1908 in Osage City, KS the daughter of William L. and Nina M. (Clarke) Marshall.
Florence graduated from Osage City High School and attended Emporia Teachers College. She graduated from Jane C. Stormont School of Nursing in 1932. She spent 41 years in nursing. The final ten years she was a Tuberculosis Consultant Nurse for the Kansas Department of Health. She retired December 1, 1973.
Mrs. Linton is a member of Countryside United Methodist Church,the Jane C. Stormont Hospital Alumnae and Beulah Chapter #34 Order of the Eastern Star.She was life member of the Kansas State Nurses Association. Florence was a member of the Community Advisory Council for Stormont-Vail Hospital since 1976. She also had served on the Organizing Committee and the Board of Directors of Topeka Hospice.
Florence was a volunteer for the Senior Resource Center at Stormont- Vail and has done volunteer work for the Topeka Police Department. She was the first President of the Topeka Medical Assistants.
She married Archie Linton September 20, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death September 26, 1984. Survivors include; two brothers, Dr. Robert B. Marshall, Warrensburg, MO; Bruce B. Marshall, Independence, MO; Five sisters, Vera Carucci, Indian Hills, CO; Hildred E. Whittington, Lebo, KS; Nina W. Carlson, Waseca, MN; Bernice Spielman, Lebo, KS; and Phyllis J. Andre, Dyer, IN.
Funeral services will be held 10:30am Monday, September 27, 2004 at Countryside United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
