Florence E. Stone

Florence E. Stone, 100, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2009 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on April 28, 1909 in the Coal Creek community north of Onaga, KS, the daughter of Jule Auguste and Alice Angeline Becker Jeanneret. Florence attended College Hill and Edgewood schools. She lived most of her life in Topeka and was a homemaker. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church. Florence was married to Eldon Powers in 1926 and to Clifford Labbe in 1933, who are both deceased. On April 4, 1938, Florence married John Edwin Stone. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1984. Survivors include four daughters, Betty Allen, Eileen (Marvin) Bonjour and Sharon (Gary) Robinson all of Topeka and Charlotte (Rick) Webb of Berryville, AR, 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 29 great-great- grandchildren, two brothers, Wilbur Jeanneret of Onaga and Leonard Jeanneret of Topeka and one sister, Irene Truesdell of Live Oak, TX. Florence was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sandy Phinney in July of this year, and two brothers, Kenneth and Harold Jeanneret. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Florence will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
