Florence "Tina" "Tootie" Fern Chapa, 65, of Edgewood, NM passed away on December 2, 2021.
She was born the daughter of Rex and Emma Rose (Hardesty) Edwards in Garnett, Kansas on November 15, 1956. She was the youngest of the family and was protected by her two older brothers, Rex Melvin and Anthony "Tony".
Tina met the love of her life while working at a bar in Killeen, Tx. Adrian "Andy" Chapa was a young solider stationed nearby and it was love at first sight. One morning, Tina woke up Andy and said let's get married. They jumped in Andy's Camaro, drove down to the County Seat in Belton, TX and were married on January 24, 1980 after a short two weeks of knowing each other. After their union in marriage, Andy was transferred to Hawaii and there they began their life together. They moved to many different states throughout their marriage, but settled in Edgewood, NM. They were happily married for almost 43 years.
She worked for the Sandia Airport in Edgewood for 14 years and retired in 2014.
Tina was a social butterfly and enjoyed the company of others. She was a generous and kind person and loved gifting to others. She had a passion for crafting and making jewelry, collecting fairies, and geckos. She enjoyed learning about the New Mexico culture, and it was often her inspiration for the jewelry she made. Tina spent a lot of time studying genealogy and giving her knowledge to other relatives.
She leaves behind her husband, Andy Chapa; son, Jimmy (Deirdre) Butler; three granddaughters, Mykenzee Dawn Rose Butler of Edmond, OK, Kaitlynn Nichole (Jacob) Selby of Idaho, Jolee Elizabeth Butler, of Enid, OK; two great grandchildren, Phoenix Rose Bingham and Mathis Bruce Selby; her dog, Tater; nephew, Ron (Stephanie) Edwards; nieces, Stacy Edwards and Kim Hernandez; great niece, Misty Edwards; great nephew, R.J. (Leah) Edwards and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Her infectious smile and caring heart will be missed by her family and friends.
A celebration of Tina's life will be at 11:00am on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, 18 County Rd & Go 2 Blks S of, I-40, Edgewood, NM 87015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the S.A.F.E House for domestic violence survivors, P.O. Box 25363, Albuquerque, NM 87125.
