Ferne M. Rumsey, 88, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019.
She was born November 19, 1930, in Wetmore, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Belle (Robinson) Reber. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1948.
She loved to cook, entertain, and travel. She enjoyed playing card games and board games with family and friends. She was devoted to her faith and the Nazarene Church and would help with anything that was needed. She received many awards through the church with her travels abroad to Africa, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Her travels took place through the National Nazarene Church Work and Witness Program. They would help with the construction of local churches and anything that was needed.
She worked as an accountant for payroll for the State of Kansas for many years. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Ferne married Robert Rumsey on December 20, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas, he survives. Other survivors include sons, Ronald (Cheryl Kyle) Rumsey and Rick Rumsey; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Falk, Jodi (Ricke) Yerta, and Ryan (Natalie) Rumsey; great-Grandchildren, Hanna (Mark) Anderson, Taylor Falk, Trey Yerta, Trevin Yerta, , Rylie Rumsey, Lilly Rumsey, and; great-great-grandchildren, Brynn Anderson and Ivy Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Ruth Reber, Ila Grenfell, Ellen White, John Reber, Wallace Reber, Matthew Reber, Ralph Reber, and Leon Reber.
