Ferne E. "Mema" Morse, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Presbyterian Manor, Topeka, KS.
Mema was born April 16, 1920, in Hoyt, KS, to George Edmond and Mayme Elizabeth (Cox) Tolin. She graduated from Hoyt High School in 1938. Immediately following graduation she went on to Strickler Business College. She worked for Capital Service Bureau many years before retiring in 1985. Mema spent a lifetime dancing, and enjoyed many hours playing the piano, playing cards, bowling, sewing, knitting, crocheting and attending her grandkid's many activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. "Curly" Morse, her parents, daughter, Linda Carlyle, daughter-in-law, Roxanne Morse and siblings, Lorene Williamson, Joyce Tolin, Gerald Tolin, and Vivian Parr.
Mema is survived by her three children, Keith Morse, of Grain Valley, MO, Sandra (John) McArthur, of Topeka, and Anita (Doug) Partain, of Lenexa; eight grandchildren, Tonya Teppo, Troy (Brandee) McArthur, Lance (Melissa) McArthur, Shane (Nicole) Morse, Cody (Jennifer) McArthur, Kyle "KJ" Morse, Sean (Lexy) Partain, and Brook (Louise) Partain; ten great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Chris, Brielle, Teegan, Taylee, Ava, Mya, Austin, Adilyn, and Sammie, and one expected in September; and one great-great-granddaughter, Allie.
A memorial service for Ferne will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS. An inurnment will follow at Sermon on the Mound at Mount Hope Mausoleum. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
