Fern G. Schriver, 93, of Topeka, died Friday, July 1, 2005 at Brewster Place. She was born October 27, 1911 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of James Willis and Myrtle Stahl Gibson.
Fern lived in Topeka her entire life. She graduated from Topeka High School. She attended the University of Kansas majoring in Journalism. Fern worked for several years in public relations for the Kansas Chamber of Commerce.
She was active in art circle in Topeka, member and past president of Topeka Branch of the National League of American Pen Women, member and past president of Artists Associated of Topeka, Inc., Topeka Women's Club, K.U. Alumni Association and Arab Nobelles. She volunteered at the Topeka Public Library. Fern was recognized for her creativity in stained glass work.
Fern married Howard M. Schriver, February 14, 1942. He died in 1986.
She is survived by one nephew Barton Kister, Indianapolis, Ind.
A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005 at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Schriver will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
