Fannie Wisman

Fannie E. Wisman, 90, of Topeka, died Tuesday October 11, 2005 at her home.

She was born September 8, 1915 in Topeka, the daughter of Nathan and Ethel Einstein.

She was a 1933 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. She began her business career at Einstein's when her father became ill in the late 1930's. She operated the business through World War II, continued to operate the business after she married Sam Wisman in 1948, and up until the year 2000. Her sons joined her in the business in the early 1970's. She was a longtime member of the Topeka Jewish community and Temple Beth Sholom. She served as president of Sisterhood and Hadassah. She also taught religious school. She was a member of numerous civic organizations including The League of Women Voters, Doorstep, Let's Help, The Mayors Council on the Status of Women, Girl Scouts, and was a Democratic Precinctwoman. Her most important accomplishments and her proudest moments were being a mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a good friend. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Wisman and his wife Rhoda, Alan Wisman and his wife Molly, all of Topeka; a daughter Rosann Wisman and her husband Michael Lilek, Bethesda, MD; a brother, Robert Einstein, Lawrence; grandchildren Sam and Mindi Wisman and Sam and Joe Lilek.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday October 14, 2005 at Temple Beth Sholom, 4200 SW. Munson, Topeka, Kansas, 66604, with burial to follow in Topeka Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth Sholom, and Doorstep, Inc., 1119 SW. 10th St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
