Evelyn Pracht, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at a Topeka care facility. She was born on June 24, 1921 near DeWitt, MO, the daughter of Fred A. and Lena Schofield Winfrey. She had resided in Topeka since 1949. She was employed by the North American Aviation Plant in Kansas City, MO during WWII and Adams Brothers Sales Book Company in Topeka for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the First Free Methodist Church. Evelyn married William E. Pracht on February 25, 1939 in Brunswick, MO. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1993. Survivors include one son, Sidney E. Pracht and wife, Linda of Berryton, one daughter, Laura G. Gurtler and husband, Wayne of Topeka, four grandchildren, Scott, Craig, Kelly and Christine, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Evelyn will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
