Evelyn E. Taylor, 85, Aldersgate Village in Topeka, died Thursday, August 14, 2003 at a Topeka hospital. She was born March 13, 1918 in Boise City, OK to Clinton O. and Hazel D. French Taylor. She had lived in Topeka since 1970. She graduated from Boise City High School and Panhandle A & M College in Goodwill, OK. She received her masters degree in social work from Vanderbilt University. She served in the U.S. Army during World War II. She worked as a social worker in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas, retiring from the Medical Services Division of Social and Rehabilitation Services in the early 1980's. During the 1950's, she was the director of the Southeast Polio Foundation in Dallas, TX. She was a member of University United Methodist Church.
She was prececed in death by a brother, Paul Edwin taylor in 1998.
She is survived by one brother, Robert E. Taylor of Haines City, FL and seven nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday Aug. 21, 2003 in Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1:30 p.m.. Burial will be in Boise City Cemetery, Boise City, OK. Evelyn Taylor will lie in state after noon Wednesday at Penwell Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
