Evelyn A. (Brown) Siegel, 91, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 27th at Midland Hospice House surrounded by her family.
She was born March 20, 1925 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of James Arthur Brown and Gertrude Daisy (Davis) Brown.
Evelyn attended Topeka High School. She was employed at American Legion Auxiliary as the Secretary Treasurer and Abouds Catering. She attended First Assembly of God, Topeka. She was a member of the Eastern Star Helena Chapter, Women of the Arab Shrine, and enjoyed volunteering at Let's Help and the Helping Hands Humane Society.
Evelyn married Vernon Siegel, Sr. on October 8, 1946 in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2005. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage.
Survivors include three daughters Wanda Albright, Topeka: Vickie (Steve) Chaffee, Topeka: Debby (Kenny) Shively, Tucson; one son, Vernon Jr. (Carmella) Siegel, Topeka; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved sister-in-laws MaryLou Stickney and Lucille Carter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Evelyn's first love was her family. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and loving grandmother. Holidays were important to her, especially those when the whole family was together. No holiday was complete without her famous Strawberry Pretzel Salad. She enjoyed decorating and catering parties, she never turned down an opportunity to make someone's occasion memorable.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS. The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
