Evan L. Davis, 91, of Topeka, died Monday, January 17, 2005 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on April 12, 1913 in Emporia, Ks., the son of Ivor E. and Elizabeth Jones Davis. He graduated from Topeka High School and obtained an Architecture Degree from Kansas State University. He was a major donor to Kansas State Univeristy and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Evan was a 1932 initiate of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was active in the alumni group since his graduation in 1936. He was a 72 year alumni member of Kappa Sigma. He was an Army Veteran of WWII where he obtained the rank of Captain and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Evan was a partner in the architectural firm of Ekdahl, Davis, Depew, and Persson. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church all of his adult life, Orient Lodge No. 51, AF&AM, Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and the Arab Shrine where he was active in the Legion of Honor. Survivors include cousins, Kathy Brown of San Anselmo, California and Robert E. Jones of Topeka, Robert L. Jones of Topeka, William D. Jones of Tonganoxie, Deana K. Jones of Topeka and James L. Jones of Scranton. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Davis will lie in state after Noon Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
