Eunice L. Schenck, 92, of Tonganoxie, passed away Sunday, June 26 at a care facility in Tonganoxie.
She was born November 12, 1912, the daughter of Charles Ray and Blanche L. Stringfellow Ridgeway.
After graduating from Tonganoxie High School, she received a teachers certificate and taught in rural Leavenworth county. She was a secretary for the State office of the Disciples of Christ Women's Fellowship. She worked for many years as a historian for the Kansas State Historical Society. She was an active member of Oakland Christian Church, where she was a faithful Sunday school teacher for over thirty years.
She married Robert R. Schenck on June 2, 1940 in Leavenworth. He preceded her in death in 1965. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy in 2003.
Survivors include many loving nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Mrs. Schenck will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Tuesday June 28 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka. A public visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service time at Oakland Christian Church. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday , June 29 at the church with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Tonganoxie.
