Eugene M. Dalrymple, 81, of Topeka, passed away, Thursday, December 5, 2002 at a Topeka hospital.
He was born January 9, 1921 in Salina, Kansas the son of Perry C. and Lily V. (Laff) Dalrymple. He was a 1938 graduate of Russell High School.
Mr. Dalrymple was drafted into the U.S. Army in July, 1942. He joined the 8th Signal Company, 8th Infantry Division as a radio operator. He trained in the Arizona desert for an African Campaign. He was then shipped to Camp Forrest, Tennessee and then to Northern Ireland for additional training. They embarked for invasion of France in June, 1944. He served in three major campaigns in Europe until the end of the war. He was honorably discharged on October 20, 1945 as a Tech SGT 3rd Grade.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was employed by Western Electric Company, Inc. as an equipment installer and supervisor. He transferred to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1969 as an engineer associate and remained with the company until his retirement in 1978.
He married Betty Jane Reh in December, 1945. She preceded him in death in June, 1974. He married V. Evelyn Kohn (Patterson) in 1975. She survives at the home. Other survivors include:

He was preceded in death by one great grandson Roman Price, one great granddaughter, Andrea Beall, and one step daughter Karen Guilbault.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2002 at the Penwell Gabel Mid Town Chapel . Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Dalrymple will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Military honors will be held at the graveside. Memorial contributions may be given to the Grand Avenue Methodist Church, Salina, KS or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
