Eugene Stewart

Eugene P. Stewart, 87, of Topeka passed away at home on March 7, 2004. He was born May 22, 1916 in Valley Falls, KS the son of John and Clara Harris Stewart.

Gene retired from Forbes Air Force Base after working for the government for 23 years. He was a Baptist and believed in Jesus Christ.

On Nov. 18, 1942 he married Irene Banks; she passed away Nov. 19, 1999. He is survived by his son Ronald of Lincoln, NE, his two daughters Claudia Rayls of Topeka and Faye Coleman of Eudora, KS. There are also surviving his grandchildren, Shannon Zeilinger, Donnie Rayls, Lonnie Godsey, Brian, Phillip and Randy Stewart and 8 great grandchildren.

Mr. Stewart will lie in state today beginning at 2:00 pm, the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The funeral will be Wed. at 1:00 pm in Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel and interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
