Eugene D. Norris, 88, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on June 28, 1918 in Jarblo, KS, the son of Elmer and Myrtle Norris. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He previously owned and operated Norris Trucking for many years. He then was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the State of Kansas before retiring. He was a member of Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion and Philip Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W. Eugene married Nadine N. Price on May 6, 1942 in Lawrence. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Donald and his wife, Becky of Goodyear, AZ, two grandsons, Judd and wife, Rebecca of Litchfield Park, AZ, Tanner and wife, Emily of Wichita and two great-grandchildren, Brennen and Ava Norris. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Burial will follow. Eugene will lie in state 3:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
