Eugene Carl "Andy" Anderson, 87, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He suffered from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
He was born July 27, 1927 in Leavenworth, KS, to Julia and Sigurd Anderson. After a brief stint in the Army, he entered Kansas University in 1947 and there earned a degree in electrical engineering.
Andy was employed by Southwestern Bell for 38 years, ending his career as a district manager of transmission and protection. Throughout his career he was well loved and respected by his fellow employees.
Andy married Eulalee Dyson in 1954, in Concordia, KS. Several moves followed to Olathe, Salina, and finally settled in Topeka. Eulalee and Andy enjoyed a social life of dancing with friends and the Moose Club, American Legion Post No. 400, the V.F.W. and several other places.
Andy will be especially remembered for his kindness, generosity, friendliness and his beautiful green lawn--a very special man.
Survivors include his wife, Eulalee Anderson, daughters Colleen (Arend) Van Gemmert, Lori (Steve) Schmidt and Sherri Roush, Grandchildren Joshua and Ciara Sprague, Heather Gigax and Ryan Schmidt, and Chloe Roush. Also five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at St. David's Episcopal Church, 3916 SW 17th St. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
