Ethna G. Vincent, 94, of Topeka passed away Monday, May 29, 2006 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born September 16, 1911 in Floydada, TX, the daughter of James and Ruth Green.
She was a 1930 graduate of Texas Women's University, earning her masters degree in chemistry at the age of 19. She was one of the first certified Medical Technologists in Kansas, working at the state laboratory, then working for Dr. Karl Menninger.
Ethna was a member of The Lincoln Society, The Weaver's Guild, The American Orchid Society and enjoyed antiques and needlepoint. She was a fifty year member of St. David's Episcopal Church.
She married Jack Hathaway Vincent on August 28, 1937 in Houston, TX. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Vincent and a son Starks Key Vincent.
Survivors include two sons, Jarrett Vincent and Miguel Vincent, both of Topeka; a daughter, Ellen Vincent Martinez and her husband Ruperto Martinez of Lawrence; daughter in law, Tamara Vincent of Topeka; four granddaughters, Amy Newell of Plano, TX, Angela Nordhus of Lenexa, Jill Vincent of Los Angeles, CA, and Adaline Posey Martinez of Houston, TX; two grandsons, John Vincent of Grand Haven, MI and Lt. Miguel Martinez (USN) of Norfolk, VA; two great granddaughters, Lauren Newell and Payton Vincent and two great grandsons, Alexander Newell and Chance Vincent.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday June 3, 2006 at St. David's Episcopal Church with private family inurnment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW. Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
