Ethelyn "Lyn" Roose, 73, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Midland Hospice House.
Lyn was born May 25, 1937 in Topeka, the daughter of Charles and Edna (Smulling) Jones. On June 7, 1955 she married Warren G. Roose in Topeka. He survives. She is also survived by her children, Pamela A. (Mark) Wheeler of Topeka and Douglas G. (Jan) Roose of Rainer, OR; grandchildren, Eric, Bradley and Austin Wheeler and Kate and Matt Roose. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Debra Lyn Roose; four brothers, Dean, Joseph, Edwin and William Jones and a sister, Ruth Bateman.
Lyn was a graduate of Topeka High School and was employed at J. Bensons, Montgomery Wards and for the State of Kansas in several different departments. Lyn served as the secretary and as a founding member of the Mount Hope Track Club. She was also a member of the McAlister Coffee Club and the J. Benson past employee group.
A memorial ceremony to celebrate Lyn's life will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday August 30, 2010 at Mt. Hope Cemetery Abbey Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Cr., Topeka 66606. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
