Ethelena "Penny" Streff, 83, Topeka, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Midland Hospice House.
Penny was born March 12, 1928 in Topeka, the daughter of Walter and Lida (Reser) Pence. She graduated from Topeka High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the 7-Up bottling company for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. She later sold Avon, where she received Top Sales award every year she was a representative.
She was a former member St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Penny married Lester Thomas Brown in 1945. From that union four children were born; Lester Thomas (Karen) Brown, Jr., Blue Springs, MO, Zane (Dolly) Brown, Topeka, Mark (Janet) Brown, Auburn, Toni Kay (Dennis) Weishaar, who preceded her in death on November 8, 2000. She later married Michael Streff on October 19, 1978. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2008. Other survivors include step-children, Patty Kruggel, Topeka, Sandy Gibson, Rio Rancho, NM, Mick Streff, Oro Valley, AZ; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and brothers, Walter Pence, Jr., Tecumseh, and Wayne Pence, Topeka. She was also preceded in death by sister, Ruth Isaacs; and brother, Dale Pence.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Penny will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. today and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
