Ethel Mae Rezac Hodge, 81, Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2008 at her home.
Ethel was born August 14, 1926 in Emmett, the daughter of Fred and Ethel (Wood) Rezac. She graduated from Emmett High School in 1944. She moved to Topeka after graduation and was employed by the State of Kansas until1951 when she was employed with the American Home Life Insurance Company in the accounting department until her retirement in 1989. She retired as Vice President-Treasurer.
She married James M. Hodge on June 12, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1996.
Ethel was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 60 years, the United Methodist Women, Woman's Club of Topeka, and Active Prime Timers. Past member of the Metropolitan Business and Professional Women, Insurance Women of Topeka, Women of the Moose, and National Insurance Statistical Association. Her hobbies were bowling, quilting, bridge and gardening.
Survivors include sisters, Victoria Ann Marshall and husband Larry, St. Mary's; Alice Brees and husband, Bill, Emmett; 11 nieces and nephews; 16 great nieces and newphews; 11 great great nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Dean Peck. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Winnifred Surritt, Ramona Peck; brother, Frederick Rezac; and great niece, Angela Persons. She will be remembered by her many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Ethel will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
