Ethel Mae Moran Krieg, 92, of Topeka, passed away April 14, 2012, at Brewster Place. She was born October 29, 1919, In Menlo, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Edith Townsend Keith. Ethel attended schools in Menlo and after graduation from high school moved to Topeka and attended Strickler's Business College. She worked at Ed Marling's and Hawethorne Supply Co. and retired from Neon Tube Light Co. after 23 years as bookkeeper and office manager. Ethel was a member of First Baptist Church, VFW Auxiliary, and Auxiliary of Gideon International. On January 22, 1976, Ethel married Kenneth W. Moran. They enjoyed dancing and spending their winters in Tucson, Arizona. He preceded her in death along with sister, Ila Thorpe. On January 1, 2001, Ethel married James E. Krieg. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Survivors include husband, James E. Krieg, of the home; daughters, Anita Brooks, of Topeka, and Carolyn Thompson, of Ava, Missouri; sister, Shirley Finuf, of Lebanon, Ohio; step-sons, Brian Moran, of Ocala, Florida, and David Moran, of Topeka; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar, Topeka, Kansas 66611, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mrs. Krieg will lie in state from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Topeka or Gideon's International.
