Ethel Louise Laster

Ethel Louise Laster, 93, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 25, 2011, at Aldersgate Village. She was born January 15, 1918, in Garland, Kansas, the daughter of Robert J. and Myrtle (Underwood) Zornes.

Ethel worked for Bobo's Drive In for 50 years, retiring in 1998, but her true life's work was being a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

Ethel was married to Robert "Bob" Laster on December 31, 1936, at Reno, Kansas. They celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to Bob's passing on October 22, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Kay Rahmeier; three brothers; and four sisters.

Surviving are a son, Ron Laster (Nancy) of Calvert, TX; 3 daughters, Linda Kay Everitt (Roger) of Louisburg, KS, Donna Barr (Roger) and Brenda Schell (Vince), all of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Avenue. A luncheon will follow at Aldersgate Village, Wesley Hall. Ethel will lie in state after 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 pm.
